Preliminary Stuff

Long story short, a long time ago there was a community-based Livejournal game called Melody of the Abyss which strove to rewrite the entirety of the Tales of the Abyss storyline with the added twist of shoehorning in other Tales character across the series for the added fun of imagining an alternate-universe retelling of my favorite game in the series.

Beyond the Score is the fourth attempt at making this project a reality. It is a Private Story Line game. Interested players may state their interest by asking for a claim, but nothing is finalized until the game start. Prior to the game start, a month at least, a character profile is required.

Rules

  • There is currently no set start date. For all we know it could be late 2016 or somewhere in 2017.

  • Just because you claim a character here, there is no guarantee you will have the right to play them when the game starts. A month prior to the game starting, all character claims will require a character profile (this game's version of an application) to be completely filled out and reviewed.

  • There is no set character limit, but playercest should be kept to a minimum and be avoided if possible. The only activity limit to keep in mind is that for every three characters you have, there will be required one new log start from one of your characters every other month. If you cannot keep this pace, then please consider limiting how many characters you claim.

  • This is an invite-only game, and as such players are expected to respect each other and be civil. It doesn't matter who started a fight, a mod will be the one to end it, including terminating the parties if needed.

  • Characters being AU-ed into the game are expected to keep the majority of their traits intact while being consistent with the world-building of Auldrant, the world of Tales of the Abyss. Their arte lists and skills will have minimal tweaking, and their races should be either human or replica, unless there is a good plot-related reason for them being otherwise. This means no elves, no ferines, no gajuma, no seraphim, etc.

  • Spoilers not only for Tales of the Abyss, but for the Tales series as a whole will be present. Given the AU nature of the game, this is inevitable. For any Tales games yet to be released or have an official localization of some type, please refrain from using characters or (new) plot elements from them until several months after their release, especially if an official localization will occur. In reference to official localizations, the official terms for Tales of the Abyss will endure, but terms, artes, and name from other Tales titles are available to be changed depending on the circumstance and personal preference of the player(s) in question.

And also, just because a character is claimed does not mean all hope is lost. A player is not guaranteed that character, and the option of sharing characters as part of the collaborative writing effort that is the project will allow multiple players for the same characters.
